And finally, we have reached the end. And I think there is no better way to end this countdown then with the man that started it all. Despite what most believe, cosplay did not originate in Japan, they only popularized it. But, the very first cosplayer was Forrest J. Ackerman. He attended the 1st World Science Fiction Convention in 1939, where he wore the first "futuristicostume" (designed and created by Myrtle R. Douglas), which sparked fan costuming. Most call him the ‘father of cosplay’, and sadly died earlier this month at the age of 92. Without him, who knows what this hobby would have been today. So, here’s to him. For without whom, we would have never had such a fantastic way of expressing ourselves.

We’re nearing the end of our Twelve Days. And so, I thought it would be a great time to point out the one of the two girls that will be representing our country in next years World Cosplay Summit. Dia is one of the finest cosplayers that I have seen. While being fashion student in New York, she still finds time to show off her amazing works loudly and proudly with one of the most stunning xxxHolic costumes I have ever seen. Therefore, I think this girl is very suitable for this countdown. After all, she and her partner Elizabeth are representing us in Japan. Woo USA!

IchigoKitty is one of those cosplayer’s that looks good no matter what she wears. This girl has talent and is perfectly photogenic for anything that she makes. Not only did she wow me and the rest of the community with her beautiful version of Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy, but she is also a perfect Washu from the Tenchi series, right now to the very elaborate and spiky hair. And for any of you comic nerds out there, she is one drop dead gorgeous Rouge. Thumbs up and major props to her.  I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next year.

Next up on our list of fantastic cosplayers is a friend of mine that has been doing this for as long as I remember knowing her. Darcy-Chan is by far one of the most seasoned cosplay vets I know, showing off a wide variety of styles and characters through her years in this hobby. Not only is she very well known, but she also helps run some of the finest masquerades in the country. This girl definitely knows her stuff, and I am thrilled to feature her in this countdown. So way to go girly. You are awesome.

Next up on our list is a cosplayer that I have had the pleasure of knowing since the very beginning. NeoAngelWink is a local Jersey girl like myself and has a talent like no else. Not only does she make a fantastic Aeris from Final Fantasy VII, but she is the sweetest Mikuru from Haruhi ever. Don’t be intimidated by her skills though kids. She is always willing to chat it up with you about anything and everything! If you ever have a question about wig styling or how to do a proper stitch, she is always willing to help you out and give advice. There are many nice people out there, but Wink is definitely on the top of the list for sweetest cosplayer ever.
