New York Comic Con 2011 Recap
Unfortunately, my big dreams of blogging while at comic con never came to be. I learned an important thing. Never trust a convention center to get it's Wifi situation right. I was on the phone with the wireless help desk at least 8 times. $29.95 for nothing. Ugh. Well... without further adieu, I humbly present to you: Otakuden at Comic Con!
Comic Con this year was pretty intense. I had never seen the Javits Center so crowded before. It was hard to move around most of the time. The picture above was from a gaming championship that was taking place live. It was really fun to watch. I had never seen one of those in person before.
We didn't get to see a whole lot of panels this year. There was just too much to see. We did however learn about the tools-of-the-trade used by sculptors that make figures for Marvel. That was cool. We also saw a panel about Hatsune Miku put on by Vocaloid. Apparently next spring they are planning on delivering an English version of their popular software. It's going to be fascinating to see what American fans come up with once that launches.
We also had the esteemed pleasure of meeting the amazing Bill Plympton well know for his famous Plymptoons. He was a really nice guy. He drew a personalized sketch in every book he sold. It was amazing to watch how quickly he could draw.

What kind of Con would it be without a Stormtrooper?

LucasArts always has the best sets. I had a blast posing as a Darth Vader Action Figure. Not much action...

Slave Leia as Queen of the Darkside?

While Inspector Gadget was inspection his wrist watch, all I kept thinking was where's Penny?
