Kachidoki Bashi

Written by Lupin IV. Posted in J-Cool

Riding Himiko on Sumida River is great, but if you want to take pictures, I highly recommend one of the “regular” boats. I took this picture from the stern of a Sumida waterbus… Kachidoki Bashi is the last bridge over Sumida River, before it flows into Tokyo Bay. It was built in 1940, to commemorate a victory of the Japanese army during the Russo-Japanese War. It is the only drawbridge on the Sumida, but it hasn’t been raised since 1970… Behind the bridge you can see the Tsukishima island and on center-left, the grey building is the St. Luke’s Tower, the tenth tallest skyscraper in Tokyo.
