Building a model Zero is pretty cool, but some might prefer creating a model of an aircraft carrier instead:

Like the Zero, this is a DeAgostini model set released in weekly sets, each costing about 1,390 yen. Once one obtains and completes the instructions for all 100 sets, you will have a 1/250 scale model of the Akagi, an aircraft carrier that participated in the attack on Pearl Harbor and was later sunk at the battle of Midway..

I just checked out the site and the level detail on this model is absolutely amazing. The idea of selling a much bigger model in parts is a great idea I wish we could get these kits here in the U.S.
